Admirals Club® terms and conditions

1. Introduction

  • a. The following terms and conditions apply to your access to or use of any Admirals Club® lounge and your Admirals Club® Membership (as defined below). Access to and use of an Admirals Club® lounge is subject to all rules, terms and conditions set by American Airlines, Inc. and its affiliates and subsidiaries (“American”), including all policies set forth in these terms and conditions (the “Terms”). Accordingly, please review these Terms carefully. In these Terms American may be referred to as “we,” “our” or “us”; and “you” and “your” means you as the Admirals Club® member or accessor or user of the Admirals Club® lounge.
  • b. By using or accessing any Admirals Club® lounge (including as a guest) or by enrolling as an Admirals Club® member, you affirmatively acknowledge and agree that these Terms are a binding agreement between you and American.
  • c. These Terms at all times remain subject to the Platform Terms, which are the general terms that govern American’s products and services, including platforms such as aa.com. For purposes of interpreting the Platform Terms, each Admirals Club® lounge will be deemed to be an “American Platform.” In addition, other terms may apply in the course of your use of an Admirals Club® lounge. For example, if you are accessing an Admirals Club® lounge in connection with your AAdvantage® status, the AAdvantage® Terms and Conditions also apply, and if your access to an Admirals Club® lounge flows from a third party (e.g., co-brand credit card partner), then the third party’s terms and conditions also apply.

  • d. American may modify these Terms at any time, with or without notice. These Terms when so amended are posted on aa.com and such modifications shall be effective immediately. Continued use of your Admirals Club® Membership or use of any Admirals Club® lounge after such modifications are published shall be deemed an acceptance of any such amendment.
  • e. As part of your Admirals Club® Membership, you may gain access to airport lounges operated by another entity or airline with which American has an access agreement (each, a “Partner Lounge”). In addition to complying with these Terms, you must also comply with the rules and policies applicable to such Partner Lounges as established by the operator of such Partner Lounge. American disclaims all responsibility for Partner Lounges.
  • f. Each time you use or access an Admirals Club® lounge or enroll in or renew your membership to the Admirals Club®, you become bound by the Terms in effect at the time of your access, use, enrollment or renewal, without limitation or qualification. These Terms may be different than the previous terms that governed your prior access to or use of the Admirals Club® lounge, so please carefully review these Terms each time you use or access an Admirals Club® lounge or renew your Admirals Club® Membership. If you do not intend to be legally bound by these Terms, do not access or use any Admirals Club® lounge or enroll in or renew your Admirals Club® Membership. You may request a copy of the latest version of the Terms at any time.
  • g. These Terms supersede and replace all prior terms and conditions applicable to your Admirals Club® Membership or access and use of any Admirals Club® lounge with respect to any access or use after the date at the top of these Terms.

2. Admirals Club® Membership

  • a. American offers memberships to the Admirals Club® (each, an “Admirals Club® Membership”) at its discretion. You must be eighteen (18) years of age or older to be eligible for an Admirals Club Membership. Please visit the Admirals Club® access page to review additional eligibility requirements and conditions for Admirals Club® Memberships.

  • b. American may offer Admirals Club® Memberships at different tiers, and your access level (including whether your Admirals Club® Membership includes guess access) will depend on your chosen membership tier. Information about membership tiers can be found at the appendix at the end of these Terms and on the Admirals Club® access page.

  • c. Admirals Club® Memberships and fees are non-refundable and non-transferrable. In certain circumstances, you may be able obtain an Admirals Club® Membership for someone else.
  • d. You may obtain an Admirals Club® Membership through a cash purchase or an AAdvantage® miles redemption. Fees and redemption requirements for new or renewed Admirals Club® Memberships are subject to change at any time, with or without notice.
  • e. Admirals Club® Memberships expire on the date indicated at the end of the term when obtaining the membership.
  • f. Existing Admirals Club® lifetime memberships will continue to be honored through Admirals Club®, subject to these Terms. Lifetime memberships are non-refundable, non-transferrable and expire upon the death of the Admirals Club® member.
  • g. American reserves the right to revoke Admirals Club® Membership privileges and confiscate membership cards, including any lifetime memberships for any reason, with or without cause. American may confiscate expired membership cards or cards that are presented by someone other than a valid Admirals Club® member. The membership card is the property of American and must be returned upon request.
  • h. American may, but is not required to, notify you of any changes regarding your Admirals Club® Membership via email associated with your membership.

3. Automatic Renewal of Annual Memberships

  • a. If you check the box authorizing automatic renewal when enrolling for your Admirals Club® Membership, your membership will automatically renew each year for additional one (1) year terms until you cancel. Your credit card on file will be charged the applicable annual membership fee at sign-up and then, on an annual basis thirty (30) days prior to the expiration of your current membership period. However, if you sign up for the auto-renewal program within sixty (60) days of your current membership expiring, your credit card will be charged the renewal fee one (1) day before your current membership expires. The membership fee for Admirals Club® Membership is subject to change.

  • b. If you do not wish to automatically renew your Admirals Club® Membership, you may cancel your auto-renewal. You must cancel at least thirty-five (35) days prior to the end of your current membership term online or via phone to avoid the next automatic charge. Here’s how:
    • i. To opt out online: log in to your Admirals Club® account, click the button labeled 'Opt-out' or 'Cancel' and follow the instructions.
    • ii. To opt out via telephone: Call 800-237-7971 daily between 8 a.m. – 10 p.m. (ET) and tell the agent you want to opt out of automatic renewal.

  • c. Admirals Club® Membership fees are non-refundable except as described in this paragraph. If you cancel an automatically renewing Admirals Club® Membership within the first seven (7) days of the new membership period and you have not visited an Admirals Club® lounge or a Partner Lounge during the new membership period, the membership fee that was charged for the new membership period will be refunded. To cancel an automatically renewing membership, call 800-237-7971 daily between 8 a.m. – 10 p.m. (ET) or log in to your Admirals Club® account per the instructions above.
  • d. If you subsequently re-subscribe to your Admirals Club® Membership online and select to enroll in an automatically renewed membership, you will once again be enrolled in the automatic renewal program unless you opt out again.

4. Admittance

  • a. American establishes the entrance and prioritization criteria for Admirals Club® lounges, including as it relates to eligible guests, at its sole discretion. You may be required to present certain documentation, including proof of eligibility, to be admitted into an Admirals Club® lounge. Please visit the Admirals Club® access page to see criteria and requirements to enter an Admirals Club® lounge. American reserves the right to make exceptions to its prioritizations and entrance criteria at American’s sole discretion.

  • b. You must be at least eighteen (18) years old to access or use an Admirals Club® lounge, or at least twenty-one (21) years old to visit an Admirals Club® lounge with a self-service bar, unless accompanied by an adult who is at least twenty-one (21) years old—local age laws and regulations apply in non-U.S. Admirals Club® lounges.
  • c. Not all origin and destination locations have an Admirals Club® lounge. Please be sure to check for information on our Admirals Club® lounge locations. Admirals Club® lounge hours may vary by location and are subject to change, including holidays. Due to security restrictions, passport control locations, and Admirals Club® lounge locations in certain airports, not all Admirals Club® lounges may be accessible to you at an airport. Eligible customers must have access to the applicable terminal or concourse in order to use the Admirals Club® lounge at that location. Gate passes will not be issued.
  • d. Admirals Club® Membership and Day Passes do not provide access to the Arrivals Lounge, International First Class Lounges, or Flagship® lounge facilities (including Flagship® First Dining), or certain facilities of other airlines with which American may have reciprocal lounge or club access privileges. See aa.com for information on reciprocity access to Partner Lounges for members of the Admirals Club®.

5. Admirals Club® Lounge One-Day Passes

  • a. American may at its discretion offer an Admirals Club® one-day passes to Admirals Club® locations for purchase (“Day Pass”). Day Passes are subject to availability based on Admirals Club® lounge capacity.
  • b. Day Pass holders must have a same-day boarding pass for airline travel (i) on any departing or arriving flight that is marketed or operated by American or any oneworld® carrier, and (ii) that allows clearance through security for flight departure and access to the Admirals Club® location.
  • c. Day Passes may be activated by entering an Admirals Club® location within twelve (12) months of purchase, subject to American’s admittance requirements (including capacity limitations).
  • d. Once activated, a Day Pass may be used at multiple Admirals Club® locations within a 24-hour period starting at the time of first activation, subject to access restrictions (e.g., terminal or concourse access).
  • e. Day Passes are non-refundable, non-changeable, non-transferable, and valid only on date of visit. Day Passes are only valid for use by the named Day Pass holder as indicated on the Day Pass. Day Passes do not include any guest access.
  • f. American expressly reserves the right in its absolute discretion to discontinue the Day Pass program at any time with or without notice, to adjust pricing, or to refuse to sell a Day Pass to any specific customer and, if sold, to cancel a Day Pass, and deny the Day Pass holder access to, or use of, any Admirals Club® lounge. American will not be liable for any loss or damage suffered by a Day Pass holder resulting from such refusal, cancellation, or denial.

6. House Rules

The safety and comfort of our Admirals Club® lounge members, guests and team members is our top priority. We will respond seriously to any language or behavior that threatens the well-being or quiet enjoyment of any Admirals Club® lounge members, guests or team members. Actions that American, in its sole discretion, deem to be offensive, disruptive, violent, inappropriate, or otherwise interfering with or negatively impacting the Admirals Club® lounge experience of other guests, members and team members, may result in denial of admission or removal of you and your guests (if applicable) from the Admirals Club® lounge, revocation of your Admirals Club® Membership any additional measures sufficient and necessary to protect the safety and comfort of other members and guests and the integrity of the Admirals Club® lounge, including legal prosecution.

Without limiting the foregoing, the following house rules apply to your conduct in an Admirals Club® lounge:

  • a. To ensure a safe environment for everyone during your visit to an Admirals Club® lounge, American requires that your attire and conduct be consistent with a professional environment, and that you be respectful that your odor is not offensive (unless caused by a disability or illness).
  • b. American asks that you maintain a quiet environment within each Admirals Club® lounge and to step outside with any crying or disruptive children or guests.
  • c. As a courtesy to other guests, please wear headphones and refrain from using the speaker feature when using personal devices.
  • d. Smoking cigarettes, pipes or cigars (including e-cigarettes and other electronic products), chewing tobacco, and using smokeless tobacco are prohibited inside Admirals Club® lounges.
  • e. All persons must be of valid drinking age, based on applicable law, to consume alcohol at an Admirals Club® lounge. American reserves the right to refuse to provide alcoholic beverages to any guest who appears to be intoxicated or is otherwise unruly.
  • f. Complimentary food, alcoholic beverages and periodicals provided by Admirals Club® lounges are for consumption and use inside the Admirals Club® lounge only and may not be removed.
  • g. Airport luggage carts are not permitted inside Admirals Club® lounges.
  • h. Carry-on pets are welcome in Admirals Club® lounges, provided they remain in their kennels. Service animals are also permitted. You are responsible and liable for the behavior of your carry-on pets and service animals. Read our policy for traveling with carry-on pets and service animals, which apply to Admirals Club® lounge visits and are incorporated herein.

    Pets
  • i. Families with small children and nursing mothers may use family rooms in Admirals Club® lounges, where available.
  • j. Airline, airport, and industry employees are not permitted access to Admirals Club® lounges while in uniform (this includes employees of other airlines, private and corporate aircraft, and charter carriers).
  • k. The Admirals Club® lounge may not be used for solicitation or for the purpose of seeking to solicit airline, airport or industry employees.
  • l. Other rules specific to the Admirals Club® lounge location may be posted in the Admirals Club® lounge, and are deemed part of these Terms.

7. Access and Use of Admirals Club® Lounge Wi-Fi

  • a. American may grant you a limited license to access and use, on your personal computer or other personal device, the Admirals Club® lounge Wi-Fi, solely for personal, non-commercial, and lawful purposes in accordance with the ordinary and intended function of the Admirals Club® lounge Wi-Fi and with these Terms, and for no other purposes. This license is revocable at any time in American’s sole discretion.
  • b. You agree that you and your guest(s), as applicable, will not use the Admirals Club® lounge Wi-Fi to engage in any activity that American, in its sole discretion, deems unlawful, infringing, offensive, disruptive, violent or inappropriate, or that is otherwise interfering with, or otherwise negatively impacting the Admirals Club® lounge experience of other guests, members and team members, or that American otherwise deems to be in violation of these Terms.
  • c. In the event you misuse the Admirals Club® lounge Wi-Fi, American reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to immediately revoke your Admirals Club® lounge Wi-Fi access, require you and your guests (if applicable) to leave the Admirals Club® lounge, revoke your Admirals Club® Membership, and take any additional measures sufficient and necessary to protect the safety and comfort of other members and guests and the integrity of the Admirals Club® lounge, including legal prosecution.
  • d. Any other terms and conditions of the applicable Admirals Club® lounge Wi-Fi are incorporated herein by reference.

8. Disclaimers; Reservation of Rights.

  • a. American reserves the right, without liability to you, to:
    • i. Take any and all steps American believes are reasonably necessary or appropriate to (1) protect the safety of its Admirals Club® lounge visitors, or (2) enforce or verify compliance with any part of these Terms;
    • ii. Disclose any registration data or account information to law enforcement authorities, government officials, or third parties, as American believes is reasonably necessary or appropriate to enforce or verify compliance with any part of these Terms;
    • iii. Terminate any Admirals Club® Membership or remove any member or other visitor from an Admirals Club® lounge for inappropriate conduct or other conduct that is harmful to other members or American, including for conduct that is undignified, disruptive, abusive or violent, or for failing to comply with these Terms; and
    • iv. Refuse future admission to anyone who is removed from an Admirals Club® lounge.
  • b. American also reserves the right to restrict, alter or modify at any time with or without notice and without compensation: (i) fees, (ii) amenities and services offered by Admirals Club® lounges, and (iii) Admirals Club® lounge hours or locations. Any such fees, amenities, services, and Admirals Club® lounge hours may vary among locations. Nothing in this Agreement shall require American to operate an Admirals Club® lounge at any particular airport location or restrict American from temporarily or permanently discontinuing the operation of any Admirals Club® lounge.
  • c. IN NO CASE SHALL AMERICAN OR ANY OF ITS DIRECTORS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AFFILIATES, AGENTS, CONTRACTORS OR LICENSORS BE LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, PUNITIVE, SPECIAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR ADMIRALS CLUB® MEMBERSHIP OR ADMITTANCE TO OR USE OF AN ADMIRALS CLUB® LOUNGE OR FOR ANY OTHER CLAIM RELATED IN ANY WAY THERETO. BY VIRTUE OF YOUR ACCEPTANCE OF THESE TERMS, YOU AGREE, TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, TO INDEMNIFY AND HOLD AMERICAN OR ANY OF ITS DIRECTORS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AFFILIATES, AGENTS, CONTRACTORS OR LICENSORS HARMLESS WITH RESPECT TO ANY CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF YOUR BREACH OF THESE TERMS OR IN ANY WAY RELATED TO YOUR ADMIRALS CLUB® MEMBERSHIP OR ADMITTANCE TO, OR USE OF, AN ADMIRALS CLUB® LOUNGE OR PARTNER LOUNGE.
  • d. American disclaims responsibility for articles lost, stolen or damaged in any Admirals Club® lounge and for any bodily injury or physical harm that may occur to you or your guests at any Admirals Club® lounge. You hereby assume full responsibility for any risks of loss, property damage or personal injury that you or your guests may sustain at an Admirals Club® lounge, whether caused by American’s negligence or otherwise. You hereby irrevocably waive any claim you may have against American for any loss, property damage or personal injury occurring at any Admirals Club® lounge.
  • e. American is not responsible for products or services separately offered by third parties, including within Admirals Club® lounges.

9. Privacy Policy

American may collect, process, and share personal information in connection with any Admirals Club® lounge or your Admirals Club® Membership in accordance with American’s Privacy Policy. YOU ACKNOWLEDGE THAT YOU HAVE READ OUR PRIVACY POLICY.

10. Miscellaneous

  • a. American is not liable for delays or failure in performance under these Terms caused by acts of God, war, civil or military authority; riots; accidents; fires; explosions; power surges; earthquakes; floods; droughts; unusually severe weather; work stoppage or slowdown; strikes or labor disputes; sabotage; delays in transportation or delivery; epidemics; pandemics; public health emergency of international concern (as defined by the World Health Organization); terrorism or threats of terrorism; national or regional emergency; acts of government, or any similar or dissimilar event that is beyond American’s control.
  • b. Governing law and dispute resolution
    • i. You agree that you will notify American of any dispute by submitting your concerns to American, including a description of the nature of the dispute. Following delivery of such submission, you agree to allow American a period of sixty (60) days to provide a substantive response and to try to resolve the dispute, prior to filing any lawsuit or any other proceeding against American related to the dispute. YOU AGREE THAT YOUR FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH THESE NOTIFICATION PROCEDURES WILL HARM AMERICAN AND ENTITLE AMERICAN TO RECOVER FROM YOU REASONABLE ATTORNEYS’ FEES INCURRED IN DEFENDING THE LAWSUIT OR ANY OTHER PROCEEDING
    • ii. YOU AGREE THAT THE RESOLUTION OF ANY DISPUTE, CLAIM, OR CONTROVERSY RELATED TO AN ADMIRALS CLUB® LOUNGE SHALL BE CONDUCTED ON AN INDIVIDUAL, NOT A CLASS-WIDE BASIS, AND THAT NO SUCH PROCEEDING MAY BE CONSOLIDATED WITH ANY OTHER LEGAL PROCEEDINGS INVOLVING AMERICAN. YOU FURTHER AGREE THAT YOU, AND ANYONE ASSERTING A CLAIM FOR YOU, WILL NOT BE A CLASS REPRESENTATIVE, CLASS MEMBER, OR OTHERWISE PARTICIPATE IN A CLASS, REPRESENTATIVE, CONSOLIDATED OR PRIVATE ATTORNEY GENERAL PROCEEDING AGAINST AMERICAN
    • iii. If you are a U.S. Citizen or a resident of the U.S. or its territories, you agree that these Terms are made and entered into in Tarrant County, Texas. You agree that Texas law governs the interpretation of these Terms or any dispute arising from your Admirals Club® Membership or your use and access of an Admirals Club® lounge, without regard to conflicts of law principles. Except as set forth below, any lawsuit brought by you related to your Admirals Club® Membership, your access or use of an Admirals Club® lounge, or these Terms must be brought in the state or federal courts of Tarrant County, Texas
    • iv. If you are neither a U.S. citizen nor a resident of the U.S. or its territories, you agree that any dispute or claim (including non-contractual disputes or claims) arising from or related to your Admirals Club® Membership, your access or use of an Admirals Club® lounge, or these Terms, or their subject matter or formation:
      • 1. shall be governed by the laws of your usual place of residence ("Your Country"), without regard to any conflict of law provisions; and
      • 2. you irrevocably submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the highest centralized-level (national, federal or comparable) courts with personal jurisdiction over the parties and subject matter jurisdiction over the dispute of Your Country.
    • c. These Terms (including the Platform Terms and the AAdvantage® Terms) constitute the entire agreement between you and American with respect to and governing your Admirals Club® Membership and your use and access of any Admirals Club® lounge, superseding any prior agreements between you and American with regard to your Admirals Club® Membership and your use and access of Admirals Club® lounges. In the event of a conflict between these Terms and the Platform Terms or the AAdvantage® Terms, to the extent necessary to resolve such conflict, the Platform Terms and AAdvantage® Terms will control. If any part of this agreement is held invalid or unenforceable, that portion shall be construed in a manner consistent with applicable law to reflect, as nearly as possible, the original intentions of you and American, and the remaining portions shall remain in full force and effect. American’s failure to enforce any right or provision in this agreement shall not constitute a waiver of such or any other provisions. American shall not be responsible for failures to fulfill any obligations due to causes beyond its control.
    • d. You agree to comply with all local, state, federal, and national laws, statutes, ordinances, and regulations that apply to your Admirals Club® Membership and your use of any Admirals Club® lounge.
    • e. In interpreting these Terms, the conjunction “or” will be understood in its inclusive sense (and/or), and use of the words “includes” or “including”, “for example”, or “e.g.” (and their derivatives) will be deemed to be followed with the phrase “without limitation”.
